The Trinity Exhibition - Trinity College Visual Arts Society - Inaugural Art Exhibition. Opening 6.30pm. Tuesday 8th December to 5.30pm. Thursday 10th December (for 3 days only)
The Trinity Exhibition (for three days only) 8 – 10 Dec
Trinity College Visual Arts Society is delighted to present The Trinity Exhibition, a showcase of artworks by the staff and students of Trinity College Dublin. The exhibition is the first fully student organised exhibition in Trinity history.
The exhibition will be opened by the
Vice-Provost of Trinity College
Prof. Patrick Prendergast
at 6.30pm on Tuesday the 8th of December
and the exhibition will run until 5.30pm on the 10th of December.
The launch will include a wine reception and the exhibition of a performance art piece.
The exhibition aims to provide an outlet for all types of creative expression within the college, giving both students and staff with artistic inclinations a chance to showcase their works and talents. In a time when the Irish art community is struggling to survive and students are being pushed towards “practical” careers, The Trinity Exhibition is a much needed opportunity to show the talent and ability that exists within the academic framework of the college.
The works involve a variety of mediums, from painting and drawing to photography, sculpture, digital art and film. The response from the college’s artistic community has been staggering, with more than 110 works initially submitted for consideration. After a careful selection process 54 works have been chosen to be exhibited from a cross section of Trinity society, ranging from students of all levels and disciplines, academic staff, managerial officers, library staff and technical support.
